The NO HARM Award was established to recognize community partners who have made a significant difference in how survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault rebuild their lives, one day at a time. In 2013, a vision was ignited to transform an old deteriorating building into a more efficient, effective, and safe healing space for survivors and their families fleeing violence regardless of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation. This vision became a reality when the now 60,000 square foot building was opened.
This would not have been possible without the unyielding support of the recipients of this inaugural award. The Battered Women’s Shelter is honored to recognize Huntington Akron-Foundation, Rennick & Dee Andreoli, Roger Read, and Phil Maynard, for being the first to see the vision and support it to its completion. They have given valuable advice and funded crucial parts of the shelter, including the commercial kitchen, residential lobby, clothing bank, and large community gathering areas.
If you would like to attend the award ceremony and building dedication on Thursday, July 25th, at 5:30 p.m., tickets can be purchased for $50.00 each. All proceeds go to the ongoing operations of the shelter which provides over 37,000 nights of safe shelter every year.
