*This training has been approved by the SOH, CSWMFTB for 1.5 CEs for counselors and social workers.

According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, members of the LGBTQ+ community experience intimate partner violence at equal or higher rates when compared to heterosexual couples. IPV survivors within the LGBTQ+ community face additional barriers due to discrimination, fear of being “outed” by an abusive partner, and lack of support. Additionally, survivors from the LGBTQ+ may not have access to the same legal protections as heterosexual survivors when leaving an abusive relationship. This training will explore IPV within LGBTQ+ relationships, the unique challenges and barriers LGBTQ+ survivors face, and the impacts of trauma on survivors. Finally, information on providing culturally-competent services to LGBTQ+ survivors will be presented.

Presented by Clarissa Jones, MSW, LSW
