Hope & Healing offers safe, 24/7 shelter services for survivors fleeing abusive relationships. Our shelters are located in Akron, Ohio, and Medina, Ohio. Our buildings are secure, and staff ensures safety 24 hours a day.

Domestic violence can occur in any type of relationship, and we help survivors of domestic violence of all ages and demographics.

Hope & Healing is here for survivors and their loved ones as a community resource, and all services are free of charge.

Our goal is to empower survivors of abuse to take back their autonomy, dignity and respect by providing a safe space to learn about breaking the cycle of violence, and healing from the trauma they have faced.

Our shelters offer communtal living, with bed spaces in private, dorm-style rooms. Amenities include three meals a day, basic clothing, laundry, and hygiene supplies.

Who is shelter for?

We provide shelter to women, men, youth, and children, of any gender identity, age, or ethnicity, who are fleeing abusive relationships, as well as people living with disabilities and the elderly.

What kinds of services can I access in the shelter?

Our shelters in Akron and Medina offer a safe place to stay and emotional support. Many shelter residents access Hope & Healing’s therapy and court advocacy services. We can also support you in accessing public benefits and other services in the community.

During their stay in our shelters, survivors can learn, grow, and make plans for their next steps by participating in many support programs, such as safety planning, support groups, goal planning, employment and job readiness support, housing assistance, and conflict resolution.

Many survivors also participate in group and self-care activities, such as group exercise, yoga, dance, crafting, and journaling, as well as programs and activities for youth.

Are children and youth welcome in the shelter?

Yes! We provide a safe, supportive environment for youth staying in the shelter, including a designated youth space, youth-friendly activities, and individualized support.
