What Do I Tell My Child?- Working with Survivors of Reproductive Coercion & Children Conceived through Rape

Nearly 3 million women in the United States experience rape-related pregnancy during their lifetime with most rape related pregnancies being perpetrated by an intimate partner. Participants will gain a profound understanding of the intersections between reproductive coercion, intimate partner violence, and the complexities surrounding rape-related pregnancies. We will explore the unique challenges survivors face in raising a child conceived through such traumatic circumstances and provide guidance on fostering healthy attachments between parent and child. Additionally, the training will navigate the complexities of situations where the rapist retains custody and parental rights, offering strategies for professionals to assist survivors in navigating these challenging circumstances. By fostering a comprehensive and compassionate approach, this training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to provide effective support to survivors and their children while navigating the intricacies and impacts of parenting in the aftermath of sexual violence.
