“The mission of Akron Pride is to unify and affirm the LGBTQ community and allies in celebrating our diversity and recognizing our likeness. We will promote acceptance of all individuals by defending human equity.”
At Hope and Healing we seek to educate the community on our services, promote a culture of equality, and provide resources for all survivors of Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual Violence. To reach that goal, our Advocates are joining the Akron Pride Festival on Saturday August 24th to show our support and March alongside our LGBTQIA+ neighbors, friends, family, and coworkers. We will be sporting Purple and Teal to show our Pride, so be on the look out!
For the second year in a row Hope and Healing will be marching from Highland Square to Hardesty Park as part of the Akron Pride Festival. Workers and volunteers alike are looking forward to being a part of the celebration of diversity and inclusion. Our staff will table alongside Akron PFLAG, TransAlive Support Group (part of Margie’s Hope), the Mamma Bears of NEO, and more community collaborations that we have built over the past few years. These partnerships further our mission that hope, healing, and empowerment extend to all gender identities and sexual orientations in the Akron community. We believe that every relationship deserves to be one of love, acceptance, and peace no matter how you identify or who you love.
