Intimate Partner Violence 101  – July 21 10:00-11:30 AM, presented by Jessica King, LPC

On average, 24 people per minute experience violence from an intimate partner in the United States (thehotline.org). This presentation will provide a basic overview of intimate partner violence, including different types of abuse, power and control methods, and the impacts of trauma. Additionally, resources for survivors and ways family and friends can support a loved one who is a survivor of IPV will also be discussed.

Internet Safety: Information and Tools for Keeping your Children Safe Online – July 29, 1:00-2:30 PM presented by Kristen Pavelko, LPCC

With children’s access to the Internet and mobile devices always increasing, the risks for exploitation and potential abuse also increase. Information for parents and caregivers on common grooming techniques used by predators online, how child sex trafficking occurs online, and mobile applications to watch out for will be presented. This presentation will also include tips for parents on how to facilitate conversations on Internet safety with their children in hopes of protecting children from online exploitation.
