24 Hour Crisis Hotline
If you or someone you know is experiencing physical, emotional or psychological abuse from a spouse or partner, call or 24-Hour Emergency Hotline for help and support.
Battered Women’s Shelter offers a 24/7 crisis hotline to anyone suffering Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). A trained advocate can help safety plan, determine if a survivor is eligible for shelter, and provide emotional support.
A call to our Hotline is more than just a call for help. It’s the first step towards making a change, finding hope and creating a life free of violence and abuse. The Hotline is monitored 24-hours a day by trained IPV advocates who provide support and explain options to anyone who has experienced any type of abuse from a current or former partner.
Last year Battered Women’s Shelter answered 2,580 calls, providing hours of guidance to victims of IPV.
If you feel or know that your relationship may be unhealthy or abusive, or if you are concerned for a loved one in an abusive relationship, don’t hesitate to call our Hotline. Battered Women’s Shelter strives to create a caring and nonjudgmental atmosphere for you to express your feelings and concerns. Our focus is always on your safety and wellbeing.
Some of the options available to those calling the Hotline include:
- Emotional support
- Instruction and education on safety planning
- Help to find nearby counseling resources
- Discovering available legal options
- Referrals to community resources
- Connection to our other services, such as Support Groups and Emergency Shelter
Information and referrals provided by our advocates enable you to make informed, confident choices about your next steps. The hotline also welcomes calls from professionals working with clients who are victims of intimate partner violence and who may need guidance or support on how to provide the best care.
A safety plan is a personalized, practical plan that includes ways to remain safe while in a relationship, planning to leave, or after you leave. Safety planning involves how to cope with emotions, tell friends and family about the abuse, take legal action and more.
