Heroes 4 Hope

Heroes 4 Hope is the program presented by the Rape Crisis Center. This program is presented during health class to middle and high schoolers in both Medina and Summit counties.

We focus on three main topics for the students as part of the Ohio Educational Requirements and follow up with an overview of Rape Crisis Center services.

Bystander Intervention We present the students with ways to be an active bystander and how to help in situations that they may often time be difficult.
Consent We speak about the age of consent, what consent means, how to give and get consent and also how this is so very important, even for holding hands and hugging.
Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships We speak about how to recognize signs of an unhealthy relationship and how to instill good qualities into a relationship, both intimate relationships as well as friendships, families, etc.
Information on Services We cover all services available at Rape Crisis Center, opportunities to volunteer and to ask questions.

Because we understand that there are different styles of learning we use videos and activities to break the monotony of lecture. We expect student participation in the form of critical thought, discussion, and questions. We understand that this can be a difficult topic for some to get through so we always promote self-care in the classroom and aim to answer any questions with understanding and care.
