Hospital Advocacy

Survivors who experience sexual assault and would like to have evidence collected by a trained professional, have the right to go to their local hospital for a sexual assault evidence collection kit. The evidence collection kit is completed by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). The Nurse can help the survivor with prophylactic treatment and the survivor can meet with an advocate for emotional support, navigation through the evidence collection process, safety-planning, information, and referrals if they would like. The local hospital that has a SANE Unit in Summit County is Akron General Cleveland-Clinic’s Providing Access to Healing (PATH) Center. If you are in need of hospital advocacy or would like more information, please contact our 24-hour hotline at 330-434-7273.
