September becomes a magical time of year around the Battered Women’s Shelter for our staff, clients, and community partners simply because the start of the month means that Dueling Pianos season is upon us.

Whether you’re considering attending your first Dueling Pianos fundraiser, or thinking about coming back to attend again, it is a phenomenal opportunity to spend time with friends, sing along to some of your favorite tunes, and support the BWS mission. Dueling Pianos is a timeless event where members of our community come together to give to our agency, and in return, our agency is able to give back by putting on an outstanding evening and show.

Attending Dueling Pianos gives to the Battered Women’s Shelter cause in more ways than one. Standing side-by-side with your friends, neighbors, and coworkers shows that we collectively recognize that intimate partner violence is not just a one-night event. Coming to the event shows that you stand in solidarity with survivors which helps to empower them when taking the first of many steps on their healing journey.

Fundraisers such as Dueling Pianos help Battered Women’s Shelter immensely with applying for federal funding that supports the services we provide to victims. Each federal or state grant brought into BWS requires matching local dollars, so in many ways, every $25 brought in by the Dueling Pianos fundraiser brings an additional $75 of grant funding that allows the agency to pay its bills, purchase food for clients, and keep our shelter safe. We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s Dueling Pianos fundraiser on September 6th and for the new-comers, we promise the event won’t disappoint!
