Medina receives increased leadership with the addition of Kathryn (Kate) Sass, who returns to the Rape Crisis Center after eight years.

After receiving her Master’s Degree from the University of Toledo, Kate went on to begin her work with survivors of violence at the Domestic Violence Shelter in Key West Florida in 2007. That laid the foundation for Kate’s passion for working with those experiencing crisis. Kate spent three years working in positions with the Rape Crisis Center and Battered Women’s Shelter from 2008 – 2011. Due to the loss of grant dollars, Kate moved on from the organization and worked with elder abuse victims at the Department of Jobs and Family Services. She now returns to our organization in a newly developed position of Medina Assistant Director over the Rape Crisis Center. Agency CEO Terri Heckman explained, “We have decided to put extra resources into Medina County to ensure that every corner of the County is filled with prevention and support information for survivors of sexual assaults or domestic violence.”. Kate will be active in the community building partnerships and joining collaborative groups to help her find new ways to reach and help survivors. Kate is a resident of Medina County and spends her non-work hours spoiling a couple of wonderful nephews!
